Equity protector for MT4 and MT5: Daily loss and drawdown limits that act without you.

Equity Guard is an equity protector for MT4 and MT5 that runs in our cloud, not on a chart. When an account's equity crosses a line you set, it emails you, pauses copying and can close every position and pending order, whether MetaTrader is open on your computer or not. No Expert Advisor, no VPS.

Included in every plan, from $19 a month for 2 accounts. See pricing

Rules and actions

Three lines per account, one action for each.

Turn on the lines you need. Each one acts once when equity crosses it, then waits until you resume it.

  • Daily loss limit

Acts when the day’s loss reaches the limit. Set it as an amount, or as a percentage of the starting balance.

  • Equity floor

Your maximum drawdown. Acts when equity falls to an amount, or to a percentage below the starting balance.

  • Profit target

Acts when equity rises to an amount, or to a percentage above the starting balance, for example to close out a passed challenge.

When a line is crossed

  1. AlertEmails you.
  2. Alert and pauseAlso stops new copies to the account and, on a master, from it.
  3. Alert, pause and closeAlso closes every position and pending order on the account.

An example

A bad day on a $50,000 account.

A trader copies into a $50,000 prop account and guards it with a daily loss limit inside the firm's 5%, a floor inside its 10% and a profit target. The figures are an example.

Starting balance
$50,000, read from the account’s first deposit
Daily loss limit
4%, so $2,000 a day, counted from the balance when the day began. Alert, pause and close
Equity floor
8% below the starting balance: $46,000. Alert, pause and close
Profit target
8% above it: $54,000. Alert
  1. 00:00

    The day begins

The balance is $51,200, so today’s line is $2,000 below it, at $49,200.

  2. 10:15

Gold turns against three open trades

Equity falls to $49,850. It’s above the line, so nothing happens.

  3. 14:32

    Equity reaches $49,200

Equity Guard reads the account once more to make sure, then emails you, pauses copying into the account and closes the three positions and a pending order at the market price.

  4. 14:32

The account is flat at $49,140

The market was moving fast, so the closes filled $60 past the line. That is why each line sits a little inside the firm’s own.

  5. Afternoon

    The master keeps trading

Its new trades skip this account, and each skip shows in the copier’s activity.

  6. 00:00

    The next day begins

The balance is $49,140, so the new line is $47,140, and copying picks up again by itself. The floor stays at $46,000.

Why not an equity protector EA?

An EA on a chart works while MetaTrader runs. Equity Guard doesn't depend on your terminal at all.

When an EA is the better choice. If you need a floor that trails your balance by itself, trading locked after a breach, or positions closed before the weekend, look at an EA in the terminal: some do that, and Equity Guard doesn't.

Your firm's way of counting

Count the day the way your firm does.

Prop firms reset the daily loss at different times and count it from different figures. Set Equity Guard to match, or a breach can come earlier than your own numbers say.

Day start
The broker’s midnight on its server clock, or any time in a time zone you pick
Daily loss from
The balance when the day began, or the higher of balance and equity then
Starting balance
Read from the account’s first deposit, so a 100K account counts from 100,000. You can change it
Units
Each line as an amount in the account’s currency, or a percentage of the starting balance
Next day
After a daily loss limit, copying can resume by itself when the next day starts

With the trade copier

On a follower

A pause stops new copies to that account only. Copies already open stay open and still follow the master's closes, unless the rule closes them.

On a master

A pause stops copying from it to every follower. When it closes the master's positions, the followers' copies close with them, as with any close on the master.

Its limits

What Equity Guard can't do.

It's a safety net for your own limits, not a promise that an account stays inside them.

FAQ

Questions about Equity Guard.

For anything else, email the team.

Do I need an Expert Advisor or a VPS?

No. Your accounts run in our cloud, and Equity Guard watches them there. Nothing is installed in MetaTrader, and it keeps watching when your computer is off.

Does it work without the trade copier?

Yes. You can guard any account you connect, whether it copies or not. On an account outside a copier, pausing changes nothing, so pick alert, or alert, pause and close.

How quickly does it act?

It acts on the account's figures as its terminal sends them, and reads the account once more before it acts, so a single bad reading doesn't close your trades. Then it closes at the market price and keeps trying until the account is flat. How fast the closes fill is up to your broker and the market.

Will it keep me inside my prop firm's limits?

It's a safety net, not a guarantee. Set each line a little inside your firm's, and count the day the way your firm does. The risk disclosure lists what it can't prevent, and our prop firm page what to check with your firm.

Can it follow a trailing drawdown?

Not by itself. The floor stays where you set it, so when your firm's limit trails your highest balance, move the floor up after a good day.

What happens after it closes everything?

The rule that acted waits until you resume the guard in the app, and until then the master's new trades skip the account. A daily loss limit can also let copying resume by itself when the next day starts.

Which plans include it?

Every plan. It watches accounts you've connected, so it needs no slots of its own. See pricing.
